How to get more pressure washing leads

The fastest way to get more pressure washing leads is usually not to buy more of them. It is to stop losing the ones you already get. Most exterior cleaning companies leak somewhere between a third and half of their inbound enquiries to slow response, unanswered calls and follow up that stops after one attempt. Fixing that costs nothing in ad spend and it works the same week.

Start with the leads you are already losing

Before you spend another dollar on ads, count what happened to last month's enquiries. Every missed call, every form fill, every message. Then count how many got a reply within five minutes, and how many got more than two follow up attempts.

In almost every exterior cleaning business we look at, the answer is uncomfortable. Calls come in while the crew is on a roof or behind a wand. The form fill arrives at two in the afternoon and gets answered at seven in the evening. By then the homeowner has three quotes and has already picked one.

Speed of first response is the single strongest predictor of who wins a residential exterior cleaning job, ahead of price and ahead of reviews. An automatic text back that fires within seconds of a missed call or a form submission is the cheapest revenue available to this trade.

Nine sources, ranked by what they actually return

Not all lead sources are equal, and the ranking is not the one most owners expect. Roughly in order of return per dollar and per hour:

  • Your existing customer list. Past customers already trust you and already know what you charge. A seasonal message to that list is the highest converting thing you will ever send.
  • Google Business Profile. Free, local, and driven almost entirely by review count and recency. This is where most homeowners actually start.
  • Instant response on inbound. Not a source at all, but it raises the yield of every other source on this list.
  • Referrals from past customers, asked for at the right moment rather than hoped for.
  • Local SEO with real service and area pages. Slow to build, permanent once built.
  • Meta ads with a specific seasonal offer. Reliable when the offer and the landing page are right.
  • Google Local Services and search ads. Higher intent, higher cost, works well once your close rate is solid.
  • Neighborhood targeting after a visible job. Underused, and one of the highest converting plays in the trade.
  • Door hangers and yard signs in the street you just worked. Old fashioned and still effective in dense suburbs.

Why your Google Business Profile matters more than your website

For a local service business, the map pack is the front door. A homeowner searching for pressure washing near them sees three businesses before they see a single organic result, and the ranking of those three is driven heavily by review count, review recency and proximity.

The practical implication is that a steady flow of new reviews is not a vanity metric. It is a ranking input. A company adding four or five reviews a month climbs past a competitor sitting on a hundred reviews that all stopped two years ago.

This is also why automating review requests matters more than asking well. Asking well and remembering to ask every single time are different problems, and only one of them can be solved by discipline.

The reactivation message nobody sends

Every exterior cleaning company has a list of people who paid them money and were happy. Almost none of them message that list on a schedule.

The message does not need to be clever. Something that acknowledges the season, references the service they bought last time and gives them a reason to book now will outperform any cold campaign you run. It costs nothing but the time to set it up once.

In seasonal markets this is also how you flatten the curve. The autumn gutter list becomes the spring gutter list. Last year's holiday lighting customers become this year's early bookings. The database is the asset, not the ad account.

What to do this week

If you only change one thing, make it the automatic text back on missed calls and form fills. It is the fastest to implement and the most immediately measurable.

If you can change two, add automated review requests after every completed job. Give it ninety days and your map pack position will move.

Everything else on this list compounds from there. More lead volume into a business that answers fast and looks credible is worth several times more lead volume into one that does not.
